Century Inspection can provide radiographic inspections using either X-Ray or Gamma Ray techniques. We routinely use radiographs to search for defects in weldments, metallic and composite base materials, aircraft parts and structures, pipeline construction, as well as many other applications.
Our expert teams of radiographers have extensive experience in radiographic examinations for the determination of flaws, cracks, pits, gas pickets, and many other types of typical defect conditions.
Ultrasonic Testing for flaw detection involves the use of both longitudinal and transverse high-frequency sound waves for the exploration and/or mapping of both surface and sub-surface flaws or irregularities.
The same techniques are used for the mapping material thickness and/or material loss. These types of studies are of particular interest to the boiler/steam line industries.
Corrosion/erosion studies require additional computerized database capabilities. For these uses, the UT instrument is coupled with a specialized “data logger” module, which then stores the data log site identifications and associated UT data in an electronic database. From this database of site vs. thickness data, detailed structure maps can be generated, identifying wall thickness or corrosion problem areas.
Magnetic Particle Testing utilizes the magnetic flux lines in ferrous materials for the detection of surface and/or near-surface discontinuities.
Fluorescent Magnetic Particle Testing is useful in detection of flaws in worn or weathered components.
Large steel bridge beams, steel railroad tank cars, wind towers and large steel pressure vessels are among the many applications for MT flaw detection techniques.
